Blog Number Five: Reaching the Open World

This past Friday, I was able to conduct my first interview about the aspects of ISM, and specifically how to apply the aspects of medicine and IR to someone who has already gone through the year-long journey of ISM through medicine. My interview was with Mr. Evan Bradshaw, who is a current first-year medical school student at Texas Tech, and a graduate from Frisco High School in the class of 2016. He was able to give some really great advice as to how to better utilize the ISM program for me prior to embarking upon the various stages that the program has, such as how to approach the original work and final product portions of the program, as well as how to develop a professional relationship with professional mentors. I asked him a few questions about how he had pursued the research aspects of his topic, anesthesiology, to receive great advice as to the level of detail that I should be able to pursue as a high school student in the eyes of one who is developing a medical school level of thinking knowing his previous position. To conclude, with my Business Symposium next Tuesday, I should be able to expand upon Mr. Bradshaw's ideas with others to better paint what I want to do with IR, reaching my weekly goal of seeking improvement.
