This past week, I was assigned to present my research that I have done throughout the course of the year. While at the forefront of creating my eight to ten minute speech seemed daunting due to my lack of experience of ever doing a speech even half as long, I was able to bring about my points step by step in order to successfully attract my audience throughout. I noted at the beginning of the year that the information I learn throughout the ISM journey that my experiences throughout the year cannot carry no application to people's lives, they must not only provide interest but actually have some sort of meaning. I continue to believe that no one will ever like a speech that drowns within itself. However, a challenge that I was presented with and will have to improve upon post-speech is better setting the stage for what I have learned. This speech I did will obviously need improvement, as nothing is ever perfect, but just like crafting the speech, and even the entire ISM journey in general, I will have to take it step-by-step. But regarding my mindset: as much as I always focus on the negatives of what I do over and nearly always before the positives, I have to acknowledge them. I was able to hone in my speaking skills and be able to put inflection in my tone to help relate my message in ways other than words. This was especially important in the introduction and the conclusion. Ultimately, this past week served as a benchmark, allowing me to adjust my course to better success.
