Be different. It's a quote that you hear all the time from those that reasonably don't want someone to drop to a boring personality. But for all of 2020, no one person has stayed the same through all of the twists and turns that the year has brought us. I believe that if one should look at how we are different, that there is no greater factor of our differences than how all of us have changed in these past few months. So when I came into the school year three weeks ago, waking up to sit at my own desk for the first time, I wanted to bring about positive change and embrace the challenge of school through a camera lens. For this to work, I had to have a growth mindset, and understand that my junior year of high school is absolutely nothing like this past spring as a sophomore. These past three weeks, I have come to learn that I would've been unsuccessful without having an open mind, and I was definitely not wrong in my prediction of school. However, I have to attribute my successful adaptation to the school year to my ISM class, where, for the first time, I was in a class of only six people. This new environment encouraged me to interact in a similar way to a normal room where other classes would simply have me listen. The class has been essential for me as a starting platform recently, and I have no reason to expect anything different when I return to in-person schooling next week. Similar to adapting to online, I will definitely have to learn to adapt to in-person, and I know I must continue to embrace the change. Embracing change is an action that I always must take on in order to grow. To conclude, I hope that throughout the year that I only continue to grow in an upward trend, as ISM ultimately is about how much one can grow in 1-2 years.
